Pre-prosthetic surgery complete dentures are an integral part of prosthodontics. The ultimate goal of pre-prosthetic surgery is to prepare the mouth for receiving dental prostheses by redesigning and smoothing the edges of the bone that would otherwise hinder the restoration of optimal health and function. This case report discusses how severe bony prominence reduction and smoothing of irregular ridges resulted in an improved denture foundation, which if left untreated would cause severe scarring and extreme discomfort for the patient.
